1. Ch. 6 - 7  --  You are the administrative assistant for a division chief in a large holding company that owns several hotels and theme parks. You and the division chief have just come from the CEO’s office, where you were informed that the guest complaints related to housekeeping and employee attitude are increasing. Your on-site managers have mentioned some tension among workers, but have not considered it unusual. The CEO and your division chief instruct you to investigate. Suggest at least three different types of research that might be appropriate to the situation.

When it comes to investigating situations, studies are a great way to research those situations. In this particular question, there are three studies I feel would be most appropriate: Descriptive, Casual, and Qualitative and Quantitative. Descriptive as defined by Cooper & Schindler are formalized studies structured with clearly stated hypotheses or investigative questions. Casual is defined as research that attempts to reveal a casual relationship between variables (A produces B or causes B to occur). Qualitative research is defined as interpretative techniques that seek to describe, decode, translate, and otherwise come to terms with the meaning of certain phenomenon; a fundamental approach of exploration including in depth interviews, group interviews, participant observation, and many others. Quantitative research is the precise count of some behavior, knowledge, opinion, or attitude (2011).

There are many different types of research that could be utilized in this situation. The three such types of research that make sense and can be used to study guest complaints in relations to housekeeping and employee attitude are as follows:
