Certified Financial Planner (CFP) is a professional certification that has been created to help individual and businesses with retirement plan, risk management, education plan and many more. This certification is administered by Certified Financial Planner Broad of Standards. In order to be eligible for exam, you will to meet certain requirements including education and experience. In case of education, you will need to have at least a bachelor degree in any discipline from accredited university or college. For subject of experience, you are required to have three years full time relevant personal financial planning experience due to the fact the certification indicates to public your ability to provide financial planning without supervisor. Once you meet these requirements, you will be eligible to sit for CFP exam.

According to CFP website, the examination is scheduled to last 10 hours over a day and a half and is held three times a year, generally on the third Friday and Saturday of March, July and November and it will consist one four-hour session on Friday afternoon, and two three-hour sessions on Saturday. Also, there are about 50 locations across the U.S where you can take the exam. The CFP certification exam cost $595 and has to be paid in full before the application deadline. The passing score of CFP exam is based on to pass or fail the exam. The result of the exam will be mailed to candidate eight weeks later and also available online.

As you can see from the first paragraph, the requirements were education and experience level. Besides these two, you will also have to complete the ethics part which is disclose whether you have been a party in any criminal, civil, governmental, or self-regulatory agency proceeding or inquiry.
