What is your research question?

Which course-delivery format (online, blended, or face-to-face) leads to the best performance in a psychological statistics class?

What is your hypothesis (both null and alternate)?

Null hypothesis: The three course-delivery formats produce equal performance (no differences).

Alternative hypothesis: The three course-delivery formats produce of performance (at least one format produces different performance from the others).

Symbolically:

H0: μ1 = μ2 = μ3

H1: μ1 ≠ μ2 ≠ μ3

Is this a qualitative or quantitative design and why?

This study is quantitative due to using numeric variables.

Is this a descriptive, correlational or experimental design and why?

This study is an experimental design because we are comparing or evaluating a group of students.

What would be an example of a variable for this study that could be measured on a nominal scale? Ordinal scale? Interval scale? Ratio scale?

Nominal scale: The levels of online instruction (our independent variable) are nominal. Sex is nominal.

Ordinal scale: The rank of the student in the class.

Interval scale: The test scores and grades.

Ratio scale: Student ages.

Once you have collected your data, would you use inferential or descriptive statistics and why?

We would use inferential statistics to analyze the data to make more general conclusions.

Create a sample frequency distribution for one of the variables. Choose either a simple or grouped frequency distribution and explain your choice.

Assume there are 12 students in each course delivery format for 36. Here is an example of a simple frequency distribution for age of the 36 students in the class.

|Age |Frequency |

|18 |11 |

|19 |5...
