I selected “Facing your Giants” by Max Lucado as my choice of literary work to do my summary paper. Even though it is intended for the “religious” reader, it is my personal opinion that most of his message in this book can be applied to our lives, both personal and professional. Facing your Giants has several purposes. Max Lucado will use the biblical story of David and Goliath to illustrate victories and defeats in life. The author will aim to inspire believers (and non believers) to face daily difficulties by focusing in God (all positive things in life), not in your giants (problems), like Goliath. He will also aim to remind us that we are humans as these biblical characters were, and we all experience the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

The book, “Facing your Giants” message is one of struggles in life and the promise that everything will be all right we face our giants in a positive manner and with faith. Our giants may have names like depression, sickness, divorce, family problems, fear, abuse, struggles in the workplace, unemployment, you name it. Because of our human nature, we are vulnerable to have giants trying to ruin and run our lives. However, it is in you to face these giants. Confront them face to face, like David did when he confronted Goliath, and declare that you will not be defeated by it. Ask the Lord to give you strength to fight for what’s yours and for what your rights are. Have no fear and go for it, don’t let these giants take over and defeat you.
