STRANGE HOBBIES

We all have our own leisure activity – things we like to do during our spare time. Reading a book, collecting stamps, doodling, scribbling, and watching TV shows or films are most of the common hobbies people have. Some pastimes, however, are stranger than others.

PLAYING DEAD

Call it weird, but Chuck Lamb likes to play dead – a pretty bizarre hobby for a 47-year old married man with six kids. In 2005, he began taking photos and videos of himself playing dead and was posting them on a website he created. He was motivated by his dream of being in a movie or TV to just lay there and be dead.

APPEARING IN THE BACKGROUND OF TV

Paul Yarrow of London definitely has a hobby: he likes to appear on television. So whenever a news camera crew gets set up in a public venue, he hangs around in the background. He has appeared in the set of live news reports on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky News at random locations and at random times. He actually walks around when a camera changes angle to get back in the shot.

SUING

He’d made it to the Guinness Book of World Records: Jonathan Lee Riches, the man who has filed the most lawsuits ever. And since it was his hobby, he also sued the people of Guinness because he said they have no right to publish his work, his legal masterpiece.

GIVING AWAY $10 TO STRANGERS

When Reed Sandridge lost his job, he took up a new hobby. He gives away $10 every day to different person, and expects nothing in return. His mom, the daughter of a coal miner whom he remembers most for his kindness, always told him that when you’re going through tough times, that’s when you most need to give back. So, not long after he was laid off, on the 3rd anniversary of his Mom’s death, he started his “year of giving,” documenting each $10 gift in a small black notebook and then blogging about the people he meets. He used his savings and his unemployment benefits for giveaways.
