Working in the manufacturing industry as a machinist, as I do, the business research process requires three steps in order to get any job started. First, we must see if we have the capability to modify the product that is given to us, because our business specializes in precision lapping of previously manufactured products. So products that don’t have the right material, specifications or design must be qualified as possible for us to even begin the process. Second, we must gather the print, blueprint or design and see what they would like us to do to the part. An example would be, do we have to lap it down to a tenth, hundredth, or thousandth in size and would a mirror finish on that part be possible with an aluminum, steel or rubber product or would we have to specify to the consumer, that the completed and shipped part would turn out in a different manner based on the capability of that part. Lastly, when the job is completed is it a good representation of our consumers desired goal on the job and if not what needs to be done. Often times these changes don’t come up because our business is known for our accurate precision-based completions, but if they do come up the question of can we, instead of will make changes will come up.

So the business research process at my business is to establish if can we do the job, then how and what the job would like if it were to be taken on and then when the job is finished is to ours and the consumers liking.
