How do cultural differences affect the concept of friendship? What examples can you provide of how cultural differences influenced your friendships?

Although society has taught us that everyone is the same no matter what the color of your skin is or what country you are from, there are certain customs and beliefs that stick with people no matter how long they have resided in the United States. It is simply to understand and get along with individuals that share the same background and speak the same language versus trying to relate to another individual who has a complete different experience and outlook in life. Our team will discuss how cultural differences affect the concept of friendship and provide some examples to back up our theory.

Everyone is different in their own unique way. Culture differences affect friendships in many ways. People have to adapt to each other and have to learn about their friend’s culture so they do not disrespect or create problems in the friendship. Every individual has their own way of theorizing different aspects of life. This does not mean everyone has to agree with what each other about every topic. Individuals also have different ways of dressing and choices about what brands of clothes they choose as well as how they choose to wear the clothes. Some other ways this affects friendships is the concept of racisms and the views of racism. Different people have different values and choices of religion, along with sexual preference, and religion.

As Americans we seem to look for similarities in our relationships with other individuals from different cultures to establish a common ground. Some cultures are different than ours for example, my husband and I have friends that are from Indian, and since we are neighbors our daughters became real close friends.
