SIDDHICHARAN IN HIMSELF

Siddhicharan as a person is dead and gone. Siddhicharan as poet is alive. A person when dead is nowhere else. A poet by virtue of a creative soul in himself exists everywhere and Omni present. An omnipotent poetic soul of Siddhicharan exists in his poetic creation. Poetic creations transcend national boundaries. Like edges of a perennial river Siddhicharan embraced both the friends and the toes. His friends are those who had gone through him in between the lines of his creative poetry. His foes are those who have not studied him in the poetry throughout the length and the breadth. Because of the reason, perhaps, Manjul the younger Siddhicharan exclaims: Siddhicharan's name is Siddhicharan and no other adjectives and qualifying vocabularies are expected of him and others for any reason.

Well known a poet Siddhicharan stood for lucid prose writings. He has published both in Nepali and Nepal Bhasa to his credits several of the collections of essays, Memuirs, dramas and one act plays. His outstanding contribution however has remained mini epic poem-URBASHI Coposed sometimes during last hours of 1950s.

I was opportuned to listen to the late poet Siddhicharan's recitation of the UIRBASHI at his residence at Ombahal, Kathmandu. He picked up the scripts from under health his bed and said that he would like to recite few stanzas dedicated to the ecclesiastical beauty of the NANDAN GRADEN. Witnessed by two of my literate companions from Bhaktapur Rampocti and the cradle of my like the event with Siddhicharan has ever since remained a remarkable reminiscence in my life. It was so nice of him to recite poetry to us one afternoon hours in him bed room.
