The Apple’s iPhone 4S was announced on October 5th. With lukewarm receptions from fans and analysis due to the disappointment the long awaited iPhone 5, with a much larger screen and thinner body. iPhone 4S that has a 3.7-inch screen; an 8-megapixel, 1080p high-definition camera; an A5 chip processor that is seven times faster than the processor in the iPhone 4; two antennae to transmit and receive data; CDMA and GSM connectivity; and new applications like Siri and Find My Friends inside the same old iPhone 4 design. With Apple’s underperformance from fans’ expectations many of Apple’s competitors hope to finally outperform Apple’s sales, companies like HTC, Samsung, Nokia, Sony boast higher performing smartphones in comparison to the new iPhone 4S.

Despite this however, Apple’s sales are predicted to remain stronger than ever, especially after Apple’s former CEO Steve Jobs’ death later the same day that the iPhone 4S was revealed. Many fans and even those who are not regular customers of Apple will line up to buy the iPhone 4S as a tribute to the former CEO. Regardless of performance in comparison to competitor brands, Apple has always remained the leader in the smartphone market due to its brand management and the loyally from its fans.

In this report we will compare the new iPhone 4S to competitor smartphones of the same generation and compare to find the EVC of the iPhone 4S. Apart from performance researches we will also perform surveys and questionnaires to find the WTP of consumers in Hong Kong for the iPhone 4S
