With our natural resources disappearing before our eyes, our economy in trouble and our world at war, what takes precedence? Are life and the world we live in was given as a gift, yet we continue to abuse it. Should we be sad that we are running out of natural resources when we continue to use them up like locusts swarms pillaging through sugarcane fields? The answer is no, we should do something about it. We should be good stewards of the gifts that God has provided, to include our natural resources. When we run out, we simply die. We become extinct like the dinosaurs. Let's make a change and start protecting the things that keep us alive.

This topic is complicated, because there are many factors involved. Our country is spending money on wars in the Middle East, while we have problems with the economy here in the United States. Due to economy issues, jobs must be considered when we decide to make a change. Fishermen get hurt when the government imposes harsh fishing restrictions. Chip Blackburn, Captain of the Miss Mary charter boat in Mexico Beach, Florida says, “ We only had (48) days to fish for red snapper this year. Can you make a living in (48) days?” (Newsherold.com, Panama City, Fl). There is currently an overabundance of red snapper and fishermen are not permitted to catch them. This doesn't make sense to some. Others say it is due to the government operating to insufficient data or not caring to stay on top of what is currently happening. We need to protect our jobs along side of protecting our resources. All items must be taken into accountability when making decisions. There must be a strategy to take care of our resources and our people.

We have been entrusted to use our natural resources for the livelihood of mankind. Trees, animals, fish in the sea and vegetation are just some of the gifts provided are resources at our disposal.
