What would an even more complete CSR engagement look like?

“The field of corporate social responsibility (CSR) comprises a wide array of diverse issue areas, standards, initiatives, and both hard and soft law mechanisms, all of which seek to define the nature of corporate responsibility and accountability for human rights, labor rights, and environmental issues” (Altschuller, Feldman, & Blecher, 2008). In the case of Host Europe, a more complete CSR engagement would focus on the opportunities that are presented to improve CSR. “Good corporate governance is now accepted as being fundamental to the successful and ongoing operation of any corporation; and, as such, corporate social responsibility (or CSR) has rapidly enjoyed increased status” (Crowther, 2010). Continuing the effort to staff more women and highly skilled workers will help to complete their corporate social responsibility engagement. Raising economic awareness internally is also a feasible concept that will help them to establish themselves as a socially responsible company. Voluntary work and participation in community activities can also be used to allow them to be perceived as a socially responsible company by their community. “The steps towards CSR can be likened to increasing maturity as all organizations progress towards that maturity by passing through the same stages, although at different paces” (Crowther, 2010). Becoming a socially responsible company takes time and energy. As the company continuously works at initiatives and programs that increase social awareness, their CSR will become more mature and complete. “It is still widely accepted that the impact of CSR is considerable and that it has an affect not just on the present but also upon the future” (Crowther, 2010).
