Seven Organizational Approaches

When studying the human body there are seven organizational approaches to studying. The seven organizational approaches are: body planes and body directions, body cavities, quadrants and regions, anatomy and physiology, microscopic to macroscopic, body systems, and medical specialties. All seven of these organizational approaches are very important when studying the human body.

The first approach is body planes and Body directions. This is a very important approach when studying the human body. A plane is an imaginary flat surface. This surface divides the body into two parts. In the human body there are three body panes they are: the coronal or frontal, the sagittal, and the transverse plane. The coronal plane divides the body into the front and back sections. The sagittal plane divides the body into the body into right and left sections. The transverse plane divides the body in the top and bottom sections. When studying it is easier if you can break down the human body. Knowing the planes and directions can help do this. This first approach of body planes and body directions is used very often in health care. One example is when a person visits a doctor the doctor may need to explain what is going on to another doctor. This approach helps to the doctor to know how to tell exactly where the issue is to the other doctor and to the patient ("Anatomy Terms ", n.d.).

The second approach is body cavities. A cavity is a hollow space that is surrounded by bones or muscles it is used to support and protect the organs and other structures within the cavity. In the body there are five cavities: the cranial, the spinal, the thoracic, the abdominal, and the pelvic cavity. The cranial cavity is in the cranium.
