For some, weekends literally mean the “end of an exhausting week”, but for me, it’s the start of doing what you have left undone during the previous mind-boggling days. It has been more than a month since I left my laidback weekend lifestyle in Davao. The lifestyle shift came along with my choice to live a new and independent life miles away from home. First and foremost, I never forget to eat my breakfast. You know what our folks say, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Next, I do my laundry. There was no way out of this skin-damaging responsibility or else, consider yourself going to class nude. Then, it’s time to do the unending homeworks and assignments. Add to that load the tons of reading materials required for each subject. Afterwards, it is break time! During Saturdays, I head out to SC or somewhere else pleasant to eat, but when it’s Sunday, I make sure that I hear mass first at 11 am, then take a jeepney ride either to SM North Edsa or Trinoma with my friends to eat lunch and to buy our dormitory necessities. After that, I return back to the dormitory for the continuation of the homeworks with dinnertime as the next break. I try to finish all of them so that I have Monday as my free day. Before I go to sleep, I sneak in an hour or two of surfing the net in order to communicate with my friends and to be updated of the current events. Finally, I sleep after each long day. It seems that it is only when I am asleep that I feel relaxed and free from the stressful life that I live during the remaining four days of the week. Apparently, the week never ends.
