How-To Shows
I don’t have much experience in how- to reality shows because I never got much interest in watching those types of shows. The only time I would watch how – to reality shows is when I want to cook something new for the upcoming holidays. The show I just watched was Good Eats by Alton Brown, showing people how making a Sour Cream Cheesecake step by step. He explained the difference between cream pie and regular cheesecake, and taught the use of each ingredient in the show. In the end of the episode, he shows how an uncooked cake would be like and a well done cheesecake would look like. I would attempt the task demonstrate the clip because I like eating cheesecakes and it would be an easy birthday gift for anybody. I could also just make a cheesecake when I’m bored and have the urge to eat something good. I believe the appeal of this how-to show is the foods he makes in his kitchen, also when people are lazy to do research for a appetizers or look for something new to make for dinner, they would just watch these types of shows to make things easier for themselves. This clip promises viewers that the cheesecake is good with sour cream, Alton even says it in the show, “ I said that it good, I didn’t say it was fat-free.” It also promises viewers that it’s easy to cook, which is the reason why some people may want to watch how-to shows.
