Managers should acknowledge the fact that success of company is dependent on its innovation capabilities. Successful managers should be able to adapt changes and should be comfortable with it. To be successful a company has to change with respect to changing customers (Nonaka, 2007).Successful managers are also clear in their thought process about the direction in which company will move ahead.

Manager must be systematic in planning meetings, providing due opinion to employees and overseeing the projects. Thoroughness is the promoter of Innovation especially in cases when the employees and managers work in close coordination (Kanter, 2004). Furthermore, if managers are critical thinkers, it helps in promoting critical thinking. This is a critical aspect of the strategy for companies believing in innovation as discussion of employees with manager is important. Managers promoting the employees to think and generate new ideas are better suited for innovative companies.

For a manager, important aspect of his strategy to promote innovation lies in encouraging critical thinking and new ideas. The Line level employees interact with the customers and are responsible for carrying interaction and understand their requirements and thus are the face of the company. Sometimes these employees have to face the anger of their customers. Consequently, their managers must encourage them to develop ideas which will help them in managing their customers successfully and will make the company more successful. Also the employees must be given the encouragement to take the ownership which will help them in having a larger stake in company’s performance. Employees must be confident enough to present their ideas and think over it critically whether the idea will work practically or not. Discussing ideas is a great way to realize innovations.
