Background

Andre Tessaro and Maria Tessaro are the owners of Andre’s Ristorante, a take-out Pizza and pasta restaurant in Red Hampton Ontario. Red Hampton is outside of Ottawa and has about 40,000 people and a thriving high tech industry with population growth of about 10% per year. About half of the residents commute to Ottawa for their employment. This winter Andre and Maria are considering expanding to a full service dining room and take-out location.

The restaurant has been offering Gourmet Pizza (many kinds) and two pasta entrees at a small mostly take out location. They have been around for over 15 years and have a good following of local people. However lately many fast food restaurants have set up in Red Hampton putting pressure on their sales. In addition the new take-out Pizza chains charge about 30 - 40 % less than Andre’s. Andre and Maria are about to sign the lease for their new location and are wondering if they can attract enough customers to build the sales they need to grow and still make a good profit at the new location (see Profit Projections).
