Effective leadership is an unnoticeable quality for many employees. Organizational performance is essential to effective leadership. It is important for employees to understand how essential the relationship between the leader and the follower is for organizational success. Great leadership is important in organizations and a good leader can make a difference in whether goals are met.
Effective leadership is influencing individuals to understand the goals of the organization and build great teams by using employee talents. Leaders facilitate the organizations purpose. They are the initiator of the organizations vision. Effective leaders will have followers and the followers must have a clear vision about the organization’s goals. The leader’s focus is to motivate, inspire, influence and reward their employees when goals are reached. Effective leaders need support to develop more leaders to continue building the organization.
Leader Incompetence
“When it comes to succession planning in the business world, corporate boards should have a sense of urgency. Companies whose boards and senior executives fail to prioritize succession planning and leadership development end up either experiencing a steady attrition in talent or retaining people with outdated skills. Cohn, Khurana, and Reeves (2005). In situations like these, businesses need to have the right people in the right roles to survive.” As decision-makers it is up to upper-management to prioritize succession planning to ensure continuous education and training of employee skills are updates.
