CHAPTER 1
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
This chapter aims to introduce the study, the problems that have been encountered by the proponents regarding the company’s system as well as the objectives and significance of these problems, the study’s scope and limitation, methodologies used, conceptual framework and the definition of terms used in conducting the study.
1.1 Introduction
The only constant thing in this world is change. One of the factors that contribute to such change is the fast evolution of technology. People’s way of living also changes as the time goes by and the world becomes more modernized.
Necessity is the mother of all inventions. Man continually seeks ways in order to make life much easier thus, creating things from the smallest tool like needles, up to the huge crafts like rockets fulfilling not only his needs but also his wants.
One of the greatest inventions that man ever created is the computer. The interrelated components of computer like the processor, storage, input, and output device help man with his works. Computer systems tend to process data, store information, and easily access this information.
As the years passed, the society and business became more complex, requiring the need of new concepts and techniques in order to stay in the industry. Computerization had also evolved as an answer to social and economic demands.
That is why, the researchers proposed a computerized payroll system in Lucky Fortune Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Services in order to come up with an efficient payment of their employee’s salary.
Payroll system provides a set of procedures which handle the company’s payment of employees’ salary. It requires careful planning because it deals with the people involved in the business. The problem with manual payroll system is that it is prone to errors and it consumes more time and effort resulting in the delay of salary payments.
