I have given a task to describe how 2 business are organised. I have selected to kind of business. One is Blackpool Park which is a private and local business and other is NHS (National Health Service) which is a public and a national business. Now lets see how these two business are organised. First we will look about Blackpool park. Who runs it, who is responsible to what, Who is accountable to who, How many fuctions/ deparment they have, how has the authority to make decisions etc.

Blackpool Structure.

Board of Directors:

Board of directors of Blackpool are a member of Thompson family. The board of directors' key purpose is to ensure the company's prosperity by collectively directing the company's affairs, whilst meeting the appropriate interests of its shareholders and stakeholders. In addition to business and financial issues, boards of directors must deal with challenges and issues relating to corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and corporate ethics. They have the authority to make decisions.

Managing Director:

Amanda Thompson is arguably one of the most high profile women in the business. Managing director of Britain’s Blackpool Pleasure Beach, she’s inherited the role from her late and much respected father Geoffrey Thompson OBE when he passed away suddenly in 2004, and now looks after around 6-million fun-seekers a year.

She have got the right people in the right places and she have now been in her position as managing director long enough to get a team around her that she believe in, that she trust, that she can work with. It’s very difficult when somebody as flamboyant as her father dies, because obviously Ishe can’t be compared to him. For one, she is a woman – which is great – but still she will do things in a different way. Obviously times have changed, she’ve got a different team around her now and they are going to find a great way forward.
