Management Planning

Planning is perhaps the most basic and vital function of management. Companies such as Boeing showcase planning in their business regimen through successes and failures. Regardless of the size of an organization, all companies go through a planning process throughout several different stages of business operations. Larger corporations such as Boeing have to deal with the impact of various internal and external factors including but not limited to: ethics, legal obligations, regulatory measures, and social responsibility. The company being used for this evaluation is an aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems (Boeing, 2010). A company of this magnitude has grown and become successful as a result of strategic, tactical, and contingency planning in its operation and management.

Boeing

Boeing is a multi-faceted corporation with roots in the aerospace industry. The company was founded by William Boeing and incorporated in 1916 as Pacific Aero Co. Now the company is an international conglomerate with government partnerships supporting engineering, technology, commercial airline, military defense, satellites, and weapons management worldwide. Adequate planning has helped the aerospace company branch out in new sectors through Boeing Capital Corporation. Engineering, Operations & Technology, and its Shared Services Group. The company has been very strong and consistent in their industry, with stable growth and success in new ventures. The only challenges for the company have been legal and political as there has been some opposition to some of the company’s military initiatives. The utilization of satellites and technological intelligence has also been an issue for the company. Proper planning has allowed the company to still flourish despite these minor blemishes.
