Introduction

Ashley Wall, Director Human Resources for one of the plants of The Treadway Tire Company located in Lima has to submit an effective plan to resolve the issues that are faced in the plant and are impacting the productivity and efficiency of the plant. To date, this establishment has been a top producer in terms of productivity and quality ratings, but external issues along with employee dissatisfaction and high turnover is threatening this status (Skinner & Beckham, 2008). The plant has several issues to address, in order to be more productive.

Issues

There are several key issues that the Treadway Tire Company which is a high turnover and employees’ low morale. Issues with morale aside, it seems that Treadway’s management structure lends itself to being more of a top-down management organization. Specifically, the executives and managers make the policies, and the foremen in the factory enforce those policies with no actual authority or training on how to enforce these policies.

Temporal Perspective

There are many lenses that Ashley needs to take into consecration but training would be the first place to start looking. The managers at the plants across country do not effectively communicate to other managers, supervisors and employees. They are focused on bonuses and increasing output of the production. The managers fail to recognize the need for establishing the system where engagement, innovation, training and well-being of employees are the priority. Giving employees high wage especially line foreman will not result in better job satisfaction and better performance. The employees need to be provided with the training which will in turn raise employee satisfaction. Employees will not be happy if they do not know what they are doing. Providing suitable training and information will make employees feel more valuable and will result in better job satisfaction.
