Career Choice: Obstetrician Gynecologist (OB-GYN)

Job Description: Obstetrician Gynecologist is a doctor that specializes in women’s health. Their responsibility is to provide general medical care, provide care related to pregnancy, and inform women on the reproductive system. OB-GYN’s are mainly concerned with preventions, diagnosis, and treatment of general health problems, but they also focus specifically on the female anatomy, such as breast and cervical cancer, urinary tract and pelvic disorders, and hormonal disorders. As well as childbirth, treating and counseling women through their pregnancy, from giving prenatal diagnosis to delivery and postpartum care. And lastly, Obstetrician Gynecologist tracks the health of, and treats, both mother and fetus as the pregnancy progresses.

Salary Range: The starting average salary of an Obstetrician Gynecologist is $186,802.00. As your working experiences increases, your salary may vary from $219,464.00-$367,532.00.

Possible Employers: Potential employers that can take on the job of an OB-GYN are people who have strong communication skills, quick decision making, and being self-motivated while working long hours. They must be able to adjust to changes through continued education or workshops and seminars.

Education Requirement: To assume this job, you must have 4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and 3-8 years of internship and residency, depending on the specialty selected.
