Essence of Pollution control

Pollution of the environment has become a dilemma of the 21st century. Many countries globally are unable to deal with this mayhem; simply because of the complexity of issues surrounding it. Some causes of pollution on another aspect generate income to meet needs of populations that are considered basic and vital. Governments that choose to deal with the problem regardless of the consequences find themselves foregoing some revenue that results from processes leading to pollution of the environment. The United States of America, being a member of the earth’s ecosystem has not been left safe when issues of pollution are concerned. For this reason, it is quite appropriate for twenty five percent of the federal budget to be directed at combating pollution through use of renewable energy sources, planting additional trees and using clean technologies.

A polluted environment leads to many health problems. Respiratory diseases result from inhaling poisonous gases from industries and exhaust pipes in locomotives. As a result, the government uses huge amounts of money on treating people of diseases related to environmental pollution. In the year 2010, the federal expenditure on Medicaid and Medicare amounted to 23% of the entire budget. By using twenty five percent of the federal budgets to fight pollution of the environment will reduce cases of ailments related to a polluted environment. This means that the federal government expenditure on Medicaid and Medicare is likely to reduce significantly. Arguments may arise that taking care of the suffering at the moment is a priority as protecting those likely to suffer from pollution in the future is not a reality, but a probability. However, failure to seriously consider the negative effects of pollution may stretch the federal budget in the future beyond its limits.
