SUBJECT: Ima Shewin Workplace Discrimination and Harassment memo outline

Mr. Goldenfarb, per your request this is a memorandum outline for our client Ms. Ima Shewin in her discrimination in the work place claim. Not only are the facts, and issues outlined, her next steps to be taken are outlined as well for her to follow in her discrimination case.

FACTS:

Ima Shewin is a 45 year-old African American woman with advanced degrees in English and journalism which she obtained from the University of Chicago. She has been employed by The Blabber for the last 10 years, a newspaper in Atlanta, Georgia. She started her career with the Blabber as an entry level researcher and was promoted 2 years later to junior level reporter position. Two years after her first promotion, Mrs. Shewin was again promoted and became a senior level reporter, and has held the position for the past 6 years of the 10 working there.

The first 8 years of Mrs. Shewin’s career, she reported to George Doright. The company reorganized and Mr. Doright was transferred to another division. Mrs. Shewin is currently reporting to Arthur King, The Blabber’s new senior editor. Since Mr. King has taken over, two editors have retired from The Blabber. Mrs. Shewin has applied for the two positions, but they were not offered to her. Mrs. Shewin was only invited to interview for one of the two positions, even though she believes she met the qualifications for both positions. The one position Mrs. Shewin applied for is junior editor position that became available, and that she has been seeking to obtain for several years.
