How has Blackpool been rebranding ?

Rebranding refers to an area in which the people do not have access to a level of goods and services that is considered adequate for that particular country. For example, the inhabitants may not have easy access to shops, a health clinic or good schools. There may be high crime levels and high unemployment. Blackpool has successfully managed to rebrand the area by firstly investing £10 million. This will lead onto being able to promote a positive enterprise culture. Such as enterprising Blackpool- this will encourage people to set up their own business’ which will alone boost Blackpool’s economy, and increase the availability of jobs, thus increasing employment rates.

HERO-an extensive education enterprise programme will also help encourage young people (years 9 & 10) into enterprising awards, which will motivate them maybe to set up their own business’s in Blackpool for the future.

Visitor first will in addition, attract tourists to the area and increase people’s perceptions of the area. And make it a more tourist area so that Blackpool is more reliant on Tourism and making good uses of its own natural resources such as its well-known beach and pier.

Creative industries hub will harness higher skilled jobs into the area or at least motivate people to go into these tertiary and quaternary jobs rather than primary or secondary which are lower paid. This will furthermore boost the economy.

In the first 3 years where the government is committed to investing £10 million, it will increase self employment rate to the national average, by creating 4,500 jobs. It will increase business stock to the regional average. And decrease the number of overall working age benefit claimers in the most deprived neighbourhoods by 4000 people.
