Company Overview

The company scenario I choose to do for my Course Project is Quality Web Design (QWD). Quality Web Design is an organization that provides Web site and Web content design for various types of businesses. QWD's mission is to provide top quality Web design that will increase consumer generated revenue to QWD's customer Web sites. QWD's database contains over 250,000 proprietary images and graphical designs that will enhance most Web sites’ appeal to a target demographic. QWD has a corporate office and a remote office which collectively they have several business processes. One of their main critical processes is the use of the repository of Web site templates, custom written scripts and custom applications. This repository is stored in a Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Service (TFS) server. This application is used to monitor the project development lifecycle of custom Visual Studio applications from inception to deployment, including the quality assurance testing phase. Some of Quality Web Design’s other critical business processes are: Accounting, Payroll and Marketing processes. In addition to business processes, Quality Web Design also provides employees access to services such as: VPN, Web Access Outlook for email, and ActiveSync for Exchange. QWD’s customers only have access to Quality Web Design’s corporate office.

Quality Web Design business processes, operations and services are supported by several QWD IT assets. Some assets include: Microsoft TFS code repositories consisting of: Web servers; application servers; database code repository; Microsoft SQL 2008 Database server used for storage of custom designed graphics and custom application image control system; T1 Frame Relay circuits connected to the Internet; ISP controlled Internet routers; Juniper ISG2000 integrated Firewall; VPN; Intrusion Detection and Prevention system; Microsoft Exchange 2007 email servers; Printers; Laptop and Desktop computers and Mobile devices....
