Bringing a new product to the disc golf market is fairly easy to do but difficult to be successful. The market for disc golf is growing but is still small and is considered a niche market.

There are a few large companies that control most of the market and have set standardized prices for most of the products sold. I would like to introduce a new line of clothing designed for disc golf, currently there are many clothing products to choose from that can be suitable alternatives or substitutes.

I will introduce pricing and non-pricing strategies that will help gain market share and also demonstrate how elastic or inelastic my product will be. I will also explain how I will be able to increase revenue and minimize cost.

Apparel for Disc Golf

The apparel industry in general is a purely competitive market where consumers have numerous choices of styles to choose from. Targeting the disc golf market can help eliminate some of the competition down to a select number that also target the same market. Influence on price is still controlled by the apparel industry because it is a standardized product. A consumer can choose a shirt, pair of pants or jacket that is not related to disc golf and still enjoy a round of disc golf. Raising or lowering the price of my clothing line would not be a good way to attract customers. The degree of elasticity that the clothing line would exhibit would be more inelastic.

Standing Out

The main objective to gaining market share in the disc golf market is to provide a product that no other company currently has in their inventory. Being first to market with a new product is one of the best ways to increase revenue and have a temporary monopoly for that product.
