Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to construct and support an argument on a decision I made to pursue an MBA degree to gain both knowledge and insight into complex business problems and solutions. The argument will be based on a “What’s My Jungian 16-Type Personality?” test and a general benefits analysis of postgraduate MBA education. The paper will evaluate my personal score from the test as an ENTP result, which describes individuals who are typically enthusiastic entrepreneurs and innovators, seeing new possibilities, different theories, and new ways of doing things. Further, in the paper we will look at the benefits of undertaking MBA program including: better career prospects, opportunity to gain not only theoretical knowledge, but also listen to the real life experiences of fellow class mates. Benjamin Franklin once said "If a man empties his purse into his head, no one can take it from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest" (Franklin, n.d.)

The value of an MBA

In the course of deciding to pursue a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Global Management, I had the opportunity to reflect on my many failures and successes in the game of business and life. I will now share my opinion of those failures and successes, which today is vastly different, as I now reflect, and before my epiphany.

In the early years of my life, like most children, I took for granted the education that was forced upon me; often complaining about having to go to school while simultaneously trying to scheme my way out of having to go. I must admit that I was fortunate to be not so bright in my scheming endeavors and for the most part suffered the fate of a good education by default. While my parents were always the source of good rhetoric on the subject, I never fully realized the inherent value of an education and for that matter the value of each sermon from my parents until I had children of my own.
