The use of rock, roll, rock and roll, etc., with reference to sexual intercourse, is traditional in blues, a form of popular music that evolved in the 1950's from rhythm and blues, characterized by the use of electric guitars, a strong rhythm with an accent on the offbeat, and youth-oriented lyrics. A form of popular music arising from and incorporating a variety of musical styles, especially rhythm and blues, country music, and gospel. Originating in the United States in the 1950s, it is characterized by electronically amplified instrumentation, a heavily accented beat, and relatively simple phrase structure

It is believed to be a fusion of different genres, like country music, folk, blues, gospel songs and jazz. Original blues was basically free of form, however it is now generally accepted that it has a 12 bar structure with a particular series of notes. Modern basis of rock would be a genre that uses electric guitar, drums and bass. Rock however created enigma, by defying the conservative norm during its advent by introducing sexually suggestive ideas and dance steps. Blues on the other hand, came to be popular given the fact that it is written, entirely, to present sorrow, melancholy and the yearning to be liberated from the difficulty that they are facing.

Jazz started during the early part of the 20th century in the African-American communities. Since then, it has spread over the world and split into several sub genres. Rock started in the 1960s and is a combination of jazz, country, and classical music primarily. Jazz music can be orchestrated from sounds produced by a mixture of wind and string instruments and percussion. Rock is mostly from electric string instruments accompanied by drum beats.
