Software and Information Management System: A Research Paper

​People who are familiar with computers are also familiar with software. To be specific, software is considered a general term to refer to the various kinds of computer programs used to run and operate computers and other hardware devices. Take note that within the general term software are two categories: Application software which are specific computer programs with specific and limited functions, and System software which encompasses operating systems and other programs which enable application software to run (Rouse, 2006). In the realms of the business world, carious software have many applications.

​As mentioned by Rouse, there are software intended to compliment office works such as word processing, spreadsheet creation, presentation, calculation, and graphic design among others. More than this, with the emergence of the field of information management system and its subsequent application, software are playing crucial role in daily business operations and various business processes.

American-based multinational technology corporation IBM for example have ventured into designing software to cater to various business solutions. As mentioned in its website (“Business Process Management”, n.d.), the company offers its so-called BPM Software to businesses in order to help them increase productivity by automating, documenting, and improving various business processes. It has been said that while this software enables a company to be empowered through an increased productivity and efficiency, while at the same time meet the demands of the customers, and to react and anticipate shift in the marketplace, it also enables owners to save costs. Thus, software relating to information systems management offer various cost-effective business solutions.
