THE BEST THANKSGIVING EVER

The time of the year where it starts to get colder, as the leaves begin the fall of the trees all the kids in school get the week of no school they’ve been patiently waiting for, all the kids wake up to the smell of delicious food cooked by their families. This day is called Thanksgiving my absolute favorite time of the year, the time where everyone can just sleep in and enjoy the whole week that you have with your family and friends to create memories

The chilly and windy morning of Thanksgiving 2004 it was my first year ever coming to America from Jamaica. I and my brother awoke up one morning to the smell of turkey, curry goat, chicken, mash potatoes, and a lot more I was happy as a kid could be at that time. Still I wondered why my mother cooked all this food, so when I asked her she told me its thanksgiving I of course asked what’s that she said with a huge smile on her face it’s a holiday where families in America celebrate by cooking large amounts of food for no reason, all I could do being 9 years old at the time was just laugh. Somehow I knew this was going to be a great day.

While my mom was busy cooking in the kitchen I lied down on the couch to watch TV and ended up dozing off ,all of a sudden I woke up to the ringing of my door bell when my mom opened the door I seen my grandmother and grandfather standing there in the doorway smiling. My mom welcomed them into the house and told them that everything should be ready in an hour. Also my grandfather brought me a late birthday present because my birthday is November 4th and he missed it, but I was grateful he bought me a brand-new pairs of sneakers. This is one of the main reasons I love thanksgiving because my birthday and it is in the same month so I always end up getting presents from family members who live far away from me, also at this point it was no doubt that it this was going to be one of the most memorable days of my life.
