CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

Tribhuvan University is the largest and oldest university in Nepal. It is the pioneer university in providing management education in Nepal and since its establishment it has been providing excellent education to the students. It provides a wide range of streams in the educational sector among which management education holds a major position. It introduced the BBA program in the year 2001/02 with an objective of producing middle level managerial professionals.

Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) is graduate degree program run by the Faculty of Management (FOM), Tribhuvan University which aims at developing socially responsible, creative and result oriented management professionals so as to fill up the middle level managerial positions in the rapidly growing business sector in Nepal and abroad. It is a four years program consisting of eight semesters targeted at providing a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge on the business sector. The program aims to prepare knowledgeable, confident and skillful professional who will be able to perform competitively in the modern organizations and solve practical business problems.

The whole BBA program comprises of 120 credits hour in total including management and allied subjects as 72 credits hour, specialization area subjects as 24 credits, computer related subjects as 18 credits hour and an internship as 6 credits hour. Among these, internship program is designed with the view to develop student’s skill in object-oriented business management, capable of understanding and solving real life business related problems. It provides practical exposure and help students to understand corporate world. It is just like the training session in which we get familiar with the corporate culture and gain practicability in our lifestyle.
