We will examine the logical and efficient thinking techniques that can be used to evaluate all the sides of critical decision making and also help to plan for any likely outcomes in a particular situation. The situation that we began discussing in Part I is the establishment of a Sears Store on the small island of Kava. The practice we will be using to analyze the Kava situation is the Six Thinking Hats Technique. This technique is a tool that can be used for group discussions as well as individual thinking. It also provides a road for groups to think/work together a more effective manor, and a means to plan the thinking processes in a detail. When using this problem solving technique it is possible for one to solve problems and study scenarios from various angles.

White Hat/ Hat #1:

When you are using the White Hat you are focusing on the data that is available to you. From that you look at what data is available, and see what you can learn from it. When I applied this step to the scenario and the establishment of the Sears store, one can draw the following conclusions; the Island of Kava has the potential for various cash crops including coffee, cocoa, sugar, and spices. Through our research we have also found that the island of Kava has petroleum which can lead to the potential to make money in the energy sector. The island of Kava is also a diversified place. There are various nationalities living on the island and with that come various spoken languages. As for climate, it can be seen as almost a paradise, but the island is susceptible to different types of natural disasters including hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc. There are potentially some harmful things that affect the island including; Avian Flu, HIV/AIDS Virus, and terrorism. There are many factors that could potentially help and harm the success of our store in Kava.
