Examines the transformations that Australia has endured over the years and how the rest of the world sees this. Australia is highly perceived to be a land of beer drinking ockers, living in the country with blue-eyes and blond hair. Reality tells us that this is not entirely true. Yes we do have a vast majority of our population that are beer drinkers and Yes, some live in the country and have blue-eyes and blond hair, but in other nations view Australia is not being accurately depicted for what we truly are.

Australia is a democratic and multicultural nation formed by thousands of different people from different backgrounds and religions from all over the world.

Before the late 17 hundreds, Australia was populated by indigenes people call Aborigines. In 1788 the first European settlers came from Great Britain and started a gold rush. When migrants from china arrived, in hopes to fined gold so that they.....

Images such as these have been used to describe Australia for decades, however do they truly encapsulate the Australian national identity? The typical Aussie has been described as "male, easy going, fair and democratic, having a healthy disrespect for authority, and a dry laconic humor" Yet when we observe the Australian society many of these images contradict reality. During the 1990's social psychologists have stated Australia is facing an identity crisis , and if this is so where does this leave the Australian image today?
