INTRODUCTION
Rationale
Literature reflects on the history. It covers beliefs, traditions, customs, and education. Literature is a way in which it captures and interprets the way of living. An entire culture exists in a written word, documenting the collective thoughts that create impact to the world.
“Literature enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become.” (C.S. Lewis, a British scholar and novelist), this adage is perhaps the most appropriate description of the importance of literature. Literature is considered as a mirror of life. It reflects the realities of the times, situations, conditions, the people, and their lifestyle. Likewise, literature offers the wisdom as well as delight to every person of temperament, color, education, and culture. In everyday life, literature plays a vital role. Through literature individual can easily interact and connect with other people.
Literary works serve as a food for thought and a tonic for imagination and creativity. Exposing an individual to good literary works, is equivalent to proving with the finest educational opportunities. On the other hand, the lack of exposure to literary works is equal to depriving an individual from opportunity to grow and be a better one. Literature serves as an enormous information base.
