Scenario

You have been appointed as a market analyst in a small investment bank, which manages the wealth of many clients.

One of your first tasks is to choose an organisation that operates internationally. This may be an investment opportunity for your employer but you can choose a non-profit making organisation.

Activity 1

Assessment Criteria 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4, 2.1/2.2/2.3/2.4

a) Analyse the business environment of this organisation by analysis of the micro and macro environments and using different analysis techniques.

b) Research the industry in which it operates looking at the history of that industry, the extent of globalisation and current internal issues affecting the organisation.

Prepare a report on the organisation which analyses the international markets in which it operates. Your report should also illustrate the impact of globalisation on the organisation.

You must indicate the key issues, opportunities and threats for investment in this organisation demonstrated through the research you have undertaken.

Activity 2

Assessment Criteria 3.1/3.2/3.3

For the organisation you have chosen, you are required to give a presentation to a group of managers on the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility to that organisation.

In your presentation you must cover the following topics:

• The moral and ethical issues caused by operating in an international environment

• Any conflicts between corporate strategy and ethical/social responsibilities

• Any legislation/regulation or guidance relating to corporate social responsibility of the organisation chosen

Your presentation should have appropriate hand-outs for the group outlining the key issues raised
