Abstract.

The latest development in the field of bioengineering has enabled scientists successfully clone organisms. Bioengineering has opened doors to science never before imaginable possible, but it has also come with controversies and ethical issues that have way surpassed it benefits. The Catholic Church, as well as other religious organizations, has raised most of the social and ethical issues of cloning whether in animals or humans. They strongly resist cloning since according to the religious faith, life begins at conception and that life is not artificially created but from the unity of a man and female. This paper seeks to highlight cloning as a social issue giving ways of how to curb the menace at a micro and macro level.

Cloning as social issue.

Since the birth of Dolly, a cloned ship in 1997, the field of cloning has caused considerable tension all over the world not just, because it was a success but because it was the first clone from an adult mammal, a thing that was considered not possible. This was a revelation to the possibility of cloning human begins. Most countries have taken measures to regulate the study of cloning, while some scientists and infertile couples argue against the ban. In my opinion, I think we should ban cloning as it has potential of reducing the value of human life, destruction of individuality in the society, and moral social system decay that have taken long to cultivate.

If cloning of human begins were to be permitted, individuals would use the technology to make money. This venture is profitable because as per the present reports, there could be 500,000 US women who would consider having a cloned baby (Sperber, 2008). Most certainly, they would not care how much money to part with to have their own blood babies. Therefore, allowing cloning will result in a world where we could obtain life with money.
