I chose china as the culture that I will set up a collaborative business venture with. While comparing and contrasting my culture from theirs I’ve notice that the culture is different from ours in some ways. For example, Chinese people keep gestures and unusual facial expressions to a minimum. Chinese do not use their hands when speaking, and are annoyed by people who do. Avoid touching, as Chinese people dislike being touched by strangers. We as Americans like to offer a firm handshake, lasting 3-5 seconds, upon greeting and leaving. I could mention all as to what’s comparable and not to the china culture, but I will a few and give the website. China people when dining have to leave food on their plate because if the plate is clean indicates that you were not given enough food, and this is a huge insult. Do not tip. It is considered an insult. Another is surprisingly, gift giving in Chinese business culture is forbidden, because this gesture is considered bribery. Although, some businesses still practice gift giving, but the safest thing to do is avoid it. Do not discuss business during the meal.
