Proposal for Case Study
Case Study Title : Fatal injuries/hazards in construction site
Abstract
Construction work is considered to be one of the most hazardous industrial activities in. The rate of injury in the construction industry is higher than in other industries. The most frequent causes of death in the construction industry are falls from height, followed by fatal accidents with vehicles. Analysis on the top accident events in construction industry supports the fact that many accidents could have been avoided or the hazardous exposure could have been minimized if construction safety was integrated in the inception or design stages of the project. Achieving a significant and sustained reduction in accidents will require concerted efforts directed at all levels of the hierarchy of causation.
Description of the problem
The rate of injuries/hazards in the construction industry is higher compared to any other industries. This study will focus on what cause the problems and how to prevent or control it.
The cause of the problem
The most frequent causes of death in the construction industry are falls from height and followed by fatal accidents with vehicles.
The solution
1. Preventing accidents at the pre-build phase. By good design and planning in the prebuild phase, architects, designers, and planners can significantly reduce the risk of accidents.
2. Better management of workplace transport.
Objective
1. To identify factors that contribute to fatal injuries/hazards in construction site.
2. To suggest the solutions or proposes management practice to overcome fatal injuries/hazards in construction site.
CONCLUSION
When a construction worker is injured while at work on a construction site, he or she may suffer devastating injuries that require months, if not years, of medical treatment and care. However, many of these accidents which can lead to death can be avoided through common sense and protective measures. Prevention...
