Executive Summary

This is an international report about my assigned country South Korea. South Korea is one of the emerging countries worldwide nowadays. South Korea has a lot of updates either politically or economically. In this INR I am going to link 4 articles with 4 of the chapters we took in the past 4 month, summarizing each article, relating each article it to one chapter and at the end criticizing each article.

The Republic of Korea found in 1895 after declaring its independence from China. Korea was once a single country, the consisted of a collection of states and existed for quite a few thousand years. However, before Korea was an independent state it was a part of china and after the war Sino-Japanese war it was independent. Not long after the Russo-Japanese war in 1905 imposed on Korea to sign a province agreement to the Japanese occupation. However, in 1910, Korea reclaimed its independence as Japan gave in to the United States in 1945. After World War II The Republic of Korea was split into a southern half and the northern half. The southern half of the Korean Peninsula was a democratic based government. In 1950-1953 there was a Korean War, where the US army and the UN forces helped South Korea fight off the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea), which were supported by China and the Soviet Union. In 1953 a truce was signed dividing the Peninsula. After that South Korea was under Chung-hee, who ruled and achieved rapid economic growth and stabilizing South Korea. In this present day South Korea is developing completely with the modern democracy as president Lee Myung-bak has initiated the policy of global engagement. However, until this present day South Korea still has serious tension with North Korea as they have disrupted the inner Korean relations
