1. How is the concept of homeostasis related to aging and disease? Provide examples to support your thinking. Homeostasis is the process in which the body tries to maintain physiological balance. As we get older all of our bodies will change and will be more sustainable to injury and sickness. Today there are more diseases that could happen to older people because of their lower immune system which helps fight disease. Some examples of this would be like if there was a cold going around in school and some kids got sick but most kids didn’t it would be because of their immune system, but if the same cold went around when the same kids were a lot older than they would be more susceptible to the disease because of how their immune system is not as powerful/ effective as it used to be.

2. When we are dehydrated, we are thirsty and drink water. Is this part of negative or positive feedback control systems? Explain your reasoning. I would say that it is a positive feedback because our body is basically saying that I need water and if it does not get any it could lead to a heat stroke. I have witnessed what being dehydrated dose to the body some of the systems are being very pale and fainting, later the person who was dehydrated drank a sport drink and puked it up, later they went to the emergency room. That is why it is important to stay hydrated. It is basically the same thing as hunger our body is telling us that it need nutrients and there will be consequences if we don’t.

3. Why would you have a hard time understanding physiology if you did not also understand anatomy? Because they both need each other to be in existence. Anatomy is about the structure of the body and the relationship of the body parts. Also physiology has to deal with the functions of the body....
