There are many gastrointestinal diseases that we can think of that you can pick to talk about. There are some that you can prevent by simply changing your lifestyle. Gastroenteritis and Food Poisoning is one of these diseases that if you just simply change your lifestyle you can prevent this disease or if you do get it you know what not to do next time.

GASTROENTERITIS AND FOOD POISONING

Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the stomach and the intestines. As with Food Poisoning it is when you eat contaminated food that is mixed with contaminated human or animal feces. These type feces can carry microorganisms that can cause gastroenteritis and food poisoning. Certain strains can cause diseases like traveler’s diarrhea or even more serious diseases as well. One of the serious diseases is hemolytic uremic syndrome and when this happens it means that there have been toxins can cause potentially your kidneys to start shutting down. With food poisoning one of the common things that can happen is Salmonella poisoning. This is when a bacterium invades the intestinal mucosa and it can cause sudden abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and sometimes you may have bloody stools as well. You may also have a fever that can last up to two weeks.

PREVENTION AND CONTROL

With both of these diseases you can prevent it from happening by simply just cooking your meat thoroughly and you need to make sure that you practice good kitchen hygiene as well. You would also need to make sure that you are storing your food properly as well. Safe food handling is something that can prevent you from eating contaminated food. You need to make sure that you wash your hands before eating and also after you have been around someone that may have been infected.
