Abstract

Internal communication is the process within an organization that will determine the success or failure of an organization. There is a need for effective internal communication. Internal communication between management and employees help to obtain the ultimate goals: increased productivity, quality, profits, loyalty and commitment. Management has to find the best communication link between communicating with employees and increasing the bottom line and the best system of providing this communication to the employees.

Management’s role in internal communication

Managers at all levels must take the initiative and develop channels of internal communication in order for the vision and mission of the organization will be understood and followed through. Communication is one of the leading tools that management has. Management has the responsibility to provide an informational flow to the employees in the organization. (Arnold & Silva, 2011) Most often, organizations have focused their efforts on providing exceptional external communications to shareholders, vendors and customers. Many times, management “seeks to improve quality and productivity” in order to reach sales growth. (Arnold & Silva, 2011, p. 156) By doing so, the employees are lacking in communication between the needs of the organization and their own needs within the organization.

Management must take responsibility for establishing and maintaining internal communication links between themselves and the employees. Managers are beginning to realize that organizational survival depends on the internal communication link between management and the employees.
