Medtronic

Founded in April of 1949, Medtronic is a worldwide medical device manufacturer that develops and produces devices such as cardiac stents and cardiac pacemakers as well as a host of many other products. The company is responsible for saving or extending the lives of millions of people around the world every year. Medtronic boasts on their website, “Every five seconds, somewhere in the world, a person’s life is saved or improved by a Medtronic product or therapy” (Medtronic.com, 2007). Medtronic’s revenue for the fiscal year end was $13.5 billion. With Medtronic’s success, has also come a large responsibility. As Medtronic develops new products and supports the old products, a large amount of employee and customer training and development must occur.

Similar to Medtronic, as mentioned in the InterClean scenario (University of Phoenix, 2008), the sales representatives are proficient in selling InterClean’s product but will need to be trained to support the products to meet the emerging needs of the customers. The InterClean employee will learn how to sell the product, train the customer on the use of the product, and support the product.

InterClean has a very ambitious goal of launching their new service within the next 90 to 180 days. To reach this goal, InterClean should begin their training program as soon as possible in order to support the demand for their new service, specifically the service of helping the customer maintain its’ compliance with the FDA
