Programmability

The advantage of programmability is in the software and hardware of the system. When completing any task there are a lot of choices that can be made to do any task. A specific task can be completed in many different ways. Text editor could be used to identify or locate a lot for choices to be utilized. Linux is an open source that has a lot of solutions for editing text using the command line. This could be a new application, a modification of an existing application or a simple enhancement of a current application being used. Windows seems not to have as much software as Linux. Linux seems to have more features and more usability with their software. Linux has most of its software available and is open source along with being free. This means getting the software with no charge and being able to modify the open source code and have more features. If he or she can understand the programming language this would more easy to use and better understanding.

Older version computers use Linux easily and are a good fit. If the computers have no memory and the processor is slow or low on power Linux will work perfectly. With the hardware Linux could be added to these computers to be used as backup servers, files servers, or firewall. This could come in handy when a malicious virus tries to attack the system. Some computers with barely RAM can run Linux with no concerns of not working. Windows cannot get them to run because they will be out of date.

Disadvantage of Linux with programming is very hard to learn if he or she is not that familiar with the language of the system. It is a big learning curve that requires a lot of patience. If he or she is a good problem fixer or hands on programmer then this would come easier to him or her. Understanding is a big disadvantage. Compatibility is another disadvantage.
