Abstract
The history of Kodak and FujiFilm, throughout this paper there will be recommendations that these two companies should have taken, and information on what they could have or should have done before starting any change initiatives. It is important for any company to understand where they are and what is working and what is not, so that they can devise plans, take strategic action that will drive their success. Organizations sometimes shut down because of organizational pride. Both companies need and needed to improve their tactics in improving their competitive positions. Kodak was an industrial giant that was cut down because it failed to keep up with technology and the demands of the marketplace. The company made its name with film processing and conventional photography with the ever-increasing technology their business started declining. Kodak decided to branch out to medical imaging, online photo sharing and digital cameras, which the ending result was a good decision for them. There were too many people producing similar products so they lost their touch. FujiFilm was established based on a government plan; they were to produce domestic photographic film manufacturing industry. They inherited a split off photographic film operation in January 1934. In 1934 they were operating, and producing photographic film, print paper, and dry plates. By June 1938 Odawara Factory (the Kanagawa Factory Odawara Site) was established. In March 1944 FujiFilm obtained a manufacturing company and Fuji Photo Optical company. The business was bought from Enomoto Kogaku Seiki.
