1(a) Provide the number of Private higher education institution in Malaysia for the past 3-5 year.

Private higher education institutions are the education institution not operated by government but by other party such as charitable or non-profit organization or commercial for profit universities.

There are 2 categories of private higher education institution were established under the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996 which is Private College and Private Universities. Mostly the private higher educational institutions offer certificate, diploma and undergraduate degree and post graduate degree course programmers. The table below is the number of Malaysia Private Higher Education Institution in 2007, 2009 and 2011.

As we can see from the table, the total of Private Higher Education Institution gradually decreased from 521 in year 2007 becomes 455 in year 2011. This is because the total of private college is every year in reducing which is from 485 in years 2007 become 470 in year 2009 and continue decreased to 403 in year 2011.

1(b) Provide the growth rate of this market

Based on the data given, basically, the total student enrolment had increased time by time from year 2001 until 2004 which is 270,904 until 322,891. The total of enrolment had decreased 8914 during year 2005 which is from 322,891 to 313,977. The total of enrolment had increased again from year 2006 until 2012 which is from 323,787 to 478,924. The total enrolment decreased again 95,197 which is from 478,924 to 383,727 in year 2011.
