Project Profile Assessment

04/30/2012

INTRODUCTION:

There is no universal definition of leadership because leadership is complex, and is studied in different ways that requires different definitions. However as mentioned in Leadership book by Lussier and Achua “Leadership is the influencing process of leaders and followers to achieve organizational objectives through change.” Moreover, there are five things a leader should have. First, leaders should respect their employees and reward employees on the basis of their performance rather than rewarding everybody equally. Second, leaders should not pretend that they know everything. In other words, leaders should consult with other people while making critical decisions. Third, leaders must be honest. Fourth, leaders should involve in policies making rather than involving in routine works. Last but not least, leaders should communicate their vision to employees and other stakeholders (Lussier & Achua, 2012). I work as a SAP project manager at Ralph Lauren, and this article will contain my leadership skills self-assessment as follows.

A) Leadership Potential:

Leadership is associated with certain qualities or characteristics. These leaders’ qualities include influence, self-reliance, independence, assertiveness, risk-taking, dominance, ambitiousness, and self-sufficiency (Lussier & Achua, 2012). People who possess these attributes are often labeled as “leaders”. Understanding one’s leadership style is a necessary first step in leadership development (Lussier & Achua, 2010).

My Leadership Potential Profile assessment indicates that I have a high leadership potential with a score of 28 out of 35. The following is a SWOT analysis of my leadership potential and personality profile using self-assessments from the Leadership textbook.
