Case study Kelly’s Assignment in Japan

1)

The first difficulty kelly found was to be prepare in less than 3 weeks before living her country. From the moment Kelly and her family stepped foot off the plane in Japan, their eyes were opened to a very different culture than what they were used to in the U.S. These differences conflicted heavily with the expectations that Kelly as well as her family had in mind.

The Japanese staff thought "Kelly" was a man cause of theim bad language.

Japanese did not like to do individual presentation maybe cause of their way in being shime. From the moment she greeted them, you can see that Kelly was ignorant to her new surrounding culture. She bows to the Japanese Managers which is followed by, to her, an uncomfortable silence and lowered eyes, in the same time, the american and german people were speaking between them. She interprets this as a gap that she must fill in and attempts to utter some limited Japanese words that she studied on her journey over to Japan later being informed that they do not speak English. Kelly's children cannot understand classes because a majority of the children in the school did not speak English. Joe her husband was an another difficulty for her cause at the same time she had to think about herself They felt confused and complained to Kelly.

Her behaviour is not respected in Japanese Culture. She didn’t knew that Japonese were reluctant to commit themselves.

Kelly thought the CEO will satisfy with her proposal, but actually the client was not willing to persue the contract. When the client company’s CEO handed her his business card, she put it in her pocket without a glance and did not give him her card. In Japan the position of woman ‘s not the same as in europe or america, for exemple she didn’t know if it was good or not to convite her work team and also she ask to her colleague to speak for her.
