Re:  Letter of Engagement

Dear Mr. Lou Scerbo

It has been a pleasure meeting you and learning about your business plans.  The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Small Business Institute (SBI) intends to help you achieve your goals and we look forward to working with you towards that end.

Based upon the information we gathered from you we have identified that this project would best be served by utilizing students in an extended engagement through the SBI Program at IUP.  The engagement will focus on addressing your current company structure, product lines, and future goals.

Specifically, the objectives of this engagement include the following:

1.   Create a business plan

2.   Conduct a market analysis

3.   Perform a market research

We expect to generate useful recommendations as a result of our completing the above tasks.  We hope that our recommendations will be of assistance to you in achieving the long run effectiveness of your firm.  Whereas additional tasks may be undertaken (time allowing), our emphasis will be on completing the tasks listed above. Our goal is to provide a final written report and oral briefing for you by 12/14/2012.

In order to accomplish the tasks outlined above, we will need the following material, actions and/or information:

1. Sales figures for past three years

2. Review of the products

Your assistance in expediting the above material and information is appreciated.  Please inform us if you have any questions concerning our interpretation of the work to be accomplished.

As you are aware, the Small Business Institute (SBI) at Indiana University of Pennsylvania provides no fee management consulting, specialized training programs, and technical assistance to small businesses.  Our goal is to improve and enhance the chances for success of both new and existing businesses in Indiana County.
